The Guyana Emergency Medicine Authority (GEMA) is seeking an Information Systems Manager to oversee the development, security, and management of the agency’s information systems and technology infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain GEMA’s information systems, databases, and technology infrastructure.
  • Oversee CAD systems, GIS and ambulance tracking systems, radio communications, and telemedicine support systems.
  • Ensure network operations, data security, backups, and disaster recovery procedures are maintained.
  • Lead the Information Systems Division and provide technical guidance and support.
  • Develop technology strategies and recommend system improvements.
  • Monitor EMS performance dashboards, analytics, and reporting systems.
  • Ensure users receive proper training and support for all systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance contracts and safeguard computer-related equipment.
  • Develop standard operating procedures for systems and technical support.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field with 3 years’ experience;
    OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years’ experience;
    OR
  • Diploma with 7 years’ experience.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of information systems, databases, networking, and IT security.
  • Experience with emergency response systems, GIS, or CAD systems is an asset.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

May require extended hours, rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and emergency response duties during disasters, mass casualty incidents, or national emergencies.
