About the Company

The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) is the military of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, established on November 1, 1965, and headquartered at Base Camp Ayanganna, Thomas Lands, Georgetown. Under its motto, Service, the Force defends Guyana’s territorial integrity, supports the civil authorities in times of crisis and contributes to national development. Its units include the Air Corps, Coast Guard, Engineer Corps, Medical Corps and Special Forces, and it recruits both officers and other ranks across a wide range of military, technical and professional fields.
