Baker Hughes is an energy technology company that provides solutions for energy and industrial customers worldwide.

In February 2022, Baker Hughes opened an oilfield services supercentre at Land of Canaan on the East Bank of Demerara. The facility sits on about eight acres beside the Demerara River and includes a workshop, warehouse, laydown yard and maintenance areas. It serves customers in both Guyana and Suriname.

From this base, Baker Hughes supports drilling services, drill bits, drilling and completion fluids, wireline, oilfield equipment, turbomachinery and upstream chemicals. The company has committed to growing a predominantly Guyanese workforce over the life of the country’s petroleum industry.
