Assistant Financial Analyst/Assistant Examiner

The Bank of Guyana is seeking a suitably qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant Financial Analyst/Assistant Examiner in its Bank Supervision Department.

Job Purpose

The Bank Supervision Department endeavours to achieve the Bank’s mandate of ensuring a safe and sound financial system through an effective and efficient system of risk-based supervision and regulation, in keeping with international best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting in-depth, risk-based analyses of industry-wide financial and non-financial information to identify, assess and monitor emerging trends and issues
• Assist in preparing risk assessment summaries and risk matrices
• Prepare schedules and matrices, analyse aspects of the CAMELS framework and draft correspondence
• Assist with stress tests and research as required
• Assist with reviewing the supervisory framework and developing proposals for enhancement
• Assist with the implementation of new legislation, regulations and guidelines
• Participate as an active team member in projects outside of direct responsibilities

Requirements/Qualifications (any one of the following)

• Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); relevant experience in a bank or financial institution would be an asset
• A degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Law, Finance or Computer Science, with at least two (2) years of accounting/auditing experience or at least one (1) year of experience in a bank or financial institution

Skills and Competencies

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in IT
• Initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
