Certified Welder

Gulf Engineering Services (Guyana) Inc is looking for a Certified Welder. Applicants must reside near Land of Canaan on the East Bank Demerara.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication tasks to assemble, repair, and modify drilling tools, oilfield equipment, and related components.
• Ensure that all welding and fabrication work complies with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
• Inspect welded components for defects and make necessary adjustments or repairs to maintain the integrity of the equipment.
• Collaborate with the machine shop team to support threading, machining, and manufacturing processes as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of welding and fabrication work, including materials used, welding processes, and inspection reports.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and minimize workplace accidents.
• Assist in the maintenance of welding and fabrication equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Work closely with other departments and team members to meet production goals and ensure the timely delivery of equipment and tools to clients.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and provide suggestions for enhancements in the welding and fabrication processes.
• Any other related duties to support the achievement of the company’s goals and objectives asked by their superior or management.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) CSEC passes.
• A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution is preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a welder.
• Knowledge of welding procedures and practices.
• Knowledge of material preparation and pre-treatment processes to ensure proper welding and fabrication.
• Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
• Familiarity with various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) and fabrication tools.
• Understanding of safety protocols and guidelines in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in welding and fabrication within the oil and gas industry is a plus.
• Understanding of quality assurance and control measures to ensure weld integrity and structural soundness.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of oil and gas industry standards and practices.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (lifting heavy objects, standing, sitting or other physically demanding positions for long periods of time).
