About the Company

The Ministry of Agriculture is the Government of Guyana ministry responsible for the development of the country’s agriculture and fisheries sectors. Its mission is to create and carry out policies and programmes that support agricultural and fisheries development, improve rural life, sustainably raise the incomes of farmers, fishers and others in the agricultural production and marketing chain, and maintain a sound physical and institutional environment for present and future productive activities.

The Ministry oversees several agencies, including the Fisheries Department, the Guyana Livestock Development Agency (GLDA), the Guyana Marketing Corporation (GMC), the Guyana Rice Development Board (GRDB), the Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA), the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo), the Guyana Food Safety Authority (GFSA), the Hydrometeorological Service, the National Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (NAREI) and the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA). Its head office is at Regent Street and Shiv Chanderpaul Drive, Georgetown.
