Network Administrator (Information Technology Division)

Guyana Power & Light Inc. (GPL) is inviting suitably qualified persons to apply for the position of Network Administrator in its Information Technology Division.

Job Description
Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, IT, the Network Administrator plans, manages and improves GPL’s Wide Area Network (WAN) to deliver secure, reliable and resilient services to staff and other users.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, monitor and maintain the WAN, including disaster response planning
• Manage network architecture and security, protecting against cyber threats
• Operate monitoring and security tools such as firewalls, PRTG and SIEM
• Manage user access on a least-privilege basis
• Prepare budget proposals and manage equipment procurement and inventory
• Provide documentation and technical support to business units
• Support the adoption of ITIL and CIS Controls

Requirements/Qualifications

• CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure (or equivalent) with at least five (5) years of relevant experience, OR
• CCNP Enterprise (or equivalent) with at least eight (8) years of relevant experience
• A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is an asset
• Certifications in Linux administration, cloud or cybersecurity are an asset
• Strong knowledge of network troubleshooting, DHCP, DNS, LAN/WAN and IT security
