Job Description/Key Responsibilities

We’re excited to announce the search for results oriented, skilled and motivated Metering Technicians III, to join our team at the Metering & Field Services Department – Sophia, Georgetown.

SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Senior Technician, the incumbent is responsible for providing technical support and executing work as it relates to all types of Metering Installations and related activities in a safe and efficient manner..

ESSENTIALS OF THE JOB:

  • Under general supervision, assist in all types of work involved in Meter Installation, including construction, rearrangement, operation and maintenance.
  • Under general supervision install, connect and change all types of single phase and three phase services on energized or de-energized line, including opening and closing of transformers throughout the Distribution System, with authority from a duly authorized Officer.
  • Under supervision, inspect meters as per customer’s complaints and rectify accordingly, replace and rearrange service line/cable on single-phase and three-phase services to prevent total interruption.
  • Be subjected and comply with the requirements of the Safety and Health legislation, regulations and contractual obligations and adhere to standard line practice codes.
  • Assist generally in ensuring that the environment and area where metering activity was conducted is kept clean and tidy.
  • Assist in ensuring that all L.T. and H.T. Meter, Metering Accessories and connections are intact before energized.
  • Drive the company’s vehicle as required, (appropriate driving licence). Responsible for the care and proper use of the vehicle and maintain the vehicle log.
  • To demonstrate his/her knowledge as a rescue operator to personnel in danger and to render First Aid treatment in cases of emergency.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned within the scope of your employment, from an Authorized Officer.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:

  • Excellent Communication Skills (verbal & Oral)
  • Attentive to details
  • Basic knowledge of practical engineering science technology.
  • Ability to accurately make numerical analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of the operations of Power Generation, Distribution and associated auxiliary equipment
  • Knowledge of Power Plant monitoring systems.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Three (3) CSEC subjects inclusive of Mathematics and English along with Craft Certificate (electrical) from the Government Technical Institute two (2) years’ experience in the electrical field.

OR

Certificate in Electrical Engineering Part 1 Government Technical Institute along with two (2) years’ experience in the Electrical Field.
